Pieter Lastman:
Dutch painter Pieter Lastman was born in 1583 and died April 4, 1633. Born in Amsterdam,
Pieter Lastman was the son of a goldsmith, a town-beadle, who was fired in 1578 for being a Catholic. Pieter Lastman mother was an evaluator of paintings and products. Pieter Lastman spent five years studying painting in Italy in early 1600. In the region of between 1604 and 1607 Pieter Lastman was in Italy, where Pieter Lastman was influenced by Caravaggio-as the painters of the Utrecht school a few years later and Adam Elsheimer. Back in Amsterdam, Pieter Lastman went to live with his mother in Sint Antoniesbreestraat, living with the mayor of Geurt Beuningen.
