Rembrandt Harmenszoon was admitted to the University of Leiden. Rembrandt Harmenszoon had a greater inclination towards painting. Rembrandt Harmenszoon was soon apprenticed to a Leiden history painter, Jacob van Swanenburgh,with whom Rembrandt Harmenszoon spent three years.

The universal appeal of Rembrandt's art lies in its reflective humanity. Rembrandt Harmenszoon treatment of light was recognized that even if his critics felt that his subject was vulgar and indecent. The prodigious output of Rembrandt Harmenszoon life, he knows that span more than 600 paintings, prints about 300 and about 2000 drawings. To each medium he gave Rembrandt Harmenszoon best effort.
In 1634 Rembrandt Harmenszoon married Saskia van Uylenburg.

Among the main features of Rembrandt Harmenszoon's work is the use of chiaroscuro, the use of theatrical light and shade followed Caravaggio, or, more likely, Caravaggio's Dutch, but tailored for very personal means . Also notable are Rembrandt Harmenszoon dramatic and lively presentation of subjects, without the rigid formality that Rembrandt Harmenszoon contemporaries often displayed, and had compassion for humanity, regardless of wealth and age. Rembrandt Harmenszoon family, wife immediately Saskia, his son Titus and his mistress Hendrickje, often important in his paintings, many mythic themes, biblical or historical.

Rembrandt Harmenszoon died on October 4, 1669 in Amsterdam, and was buried in an unmarked grave in the Westerke

Pervasive editions of his works have been compiled: his paintings by A. Bredius (rev. by H. Gerson, 3d ed. 1969), his etchings by A. M. Hind (2d ed. 1923, repr. 1967), and his drawings by O. Benesch (6 vol., 1954–58).
