French painter and graphic artist Odilon Redon, one of the leading persons of the symbolism was born on 20 April 1840 in Bordeaux in France.Odilon Redon was also a graphic designer, illustrator and pastellist.
Odilon Redon started drawing when he was a child, and at ten years old, Odilon Redon had won a design award at school. At fifteen, Odilon Redon began his formal study in drawing, but at the urging of his father Odilon Redon has gone to architecture. Odilon Redon inability to pass the entrance exams at the Paris Ecole des Beaux-Arts Pass concluded plans for become an architect, but Odilon Redon briefly studied painting there under Jean-Léon Gérôme in 1864th .Odilon Redon's younger brother Gaston Redon was a famous architect.
Back in his hometown of Bordeaux, Odilon Redon took the sculpture, and Rodolphe Bresdin taught Odilon Redon etching and lithography. Odilon Redon's artistic career was disturbed in 1870 when Odilon Redon sign-in in the army in the Franco-Prussian War.
In 1870 in Paris, and until Odilon Redon in his fifties,Odilon Redon worked almost exclusively in black and white, both in charcoal drawings and lithographs.

It was a large part of Odilon Redon's life passed in the unhappiness, but after a religious crisis in the early 1890s and attacked by a serious illness in 1894 to 1895, Odilon Redon turned out to be much personal joy and delight, and express himself in a radiant colors in mythological scenes and flower paintings. Odilon Redon was annex (means the equal perfect performer in two side)in both the field of oil and pastel. Flower pieces, in particular, impressed many of the Surrealists regarded Odilon Redon and Matisse was one of the predecessors. It was excellent value to the end of Odilon Redon life, although still a very normal person.
Odilon Redon died on 6 July 1916. In 1923, published by Mellerio: Odilon Redon: Peintre Dessinateur et Graveur. Mellerio Archive and contract papers are now in the Ryerson and Burnham Libraries at the Art Institute in Chicago.
